TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION:
Everyone will need to present an accepted form of identification to board the ship.
1) PASSPORT:
We strongly recommend that all U.S. citizens present a passport as their form of ID on boarding day.
The passport must be valid for six months after the day your cruise ends. The name on your passport should match the name on your reservation
While some other forms of ID may be accepted for your cruise, a passport is the very best option and here’s why:
- A passport is the hassle-free, gold standard for traveling between countries.
- Boarding and disembarking through customs with a passport is usually faster than other types of ID documents.
- If you have an issue while exploring a foreign port (such as missing the ship), it’s best to have a passport with you.
2) STATE - CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID:
U.S. citizens born in the US can present a state-certified birth certificate and government-issued photo ID to sail on most cruises departing from the U.S.
Should you decide to present your birth certificate on boarding day, please keep these guidelines in mind:
- It must be a state-certified birth certificate issued by the government. No “baby feet” certificates, no hospital birth certificates and no baptismal papers.
- You must present the original copy, no photo copies.
- You must also show a valid government issued photo ID, like a driver’s license.
- Guests 15 and under do not need to show to show an ID, just the birth certificate.
- The name across all docs, and the reservation, must match.
- Puerto Rican birth certificates issued prior to July 1, 2010 are not valid. The government of Puerto Rico has partnered with VitalChek.com to issue new birth certificates.
Guests who do not bring required documents may be denied boarding.
MISCELLANEOUS IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Legal Names:
First and last names on the cruise and airline reservations should match what is on the guest’s government-issued IDs. Any name changes will require documentation to bridge the name change; Marriage, Divorce or Legal Name change certificates.
- For those about to or recently have been married, it is recommended that if the unexpired government-issued ID is in the maiden name, the cruise reservation be made in the maiden name.
Minimum Age to Sail Unaccompanied:
-
No Guest younger than the age twenty-one (21) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult twenty-one (21) years old or older. A guest's age is established upon the first date of sailing.
This age limit will be waived for children sailing with their parents or guardians in connecting staterooms; for underage married couples; and for active duty members of the United States or Canadian military.
Certain other restrictions and conditions will apply; such as compliance with the age twenty-one (21) alcohol policy, and proof of marriage for underage couples or proof of active-duty military status required.
Traveling with Minors:
When traveling with a minor where one parent or both parents or legal guardians are not cruising, we strongly recommend bringing an original signed letter from the absent parent(s) or legal guardians authorizing the minor to travel with you. If there is no second parent with legal claims to the minor (due to sole custody, deceased, etc.) other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, death certificate, birth certificate naming only one parent, would be useful to bring in place of a signed letter. This will expedite processing by the Department of Homeland Security.
REGISTRATION:
Once you start the registration process you will not be able to save entries and return later; it must be completed in its entirety to be submitted. Before starting, gather information for all guests in your cabin, i.e., names, birthdates, and contact details. When registering, please enter the name of each guest as it appears on their passport, or other travel documents.
Registering for the cruise does not confirm your cabin. You will be contacted once your cabin has been confirmed to process your deposit.
